It was once always the case that cabin crew would invite big strapping passengers to sit in the seats alongside the emergency exits, just in case, they were needed to assist the crew open the exits in an emergency, but that was not the case when a Ryanair plane was delayed on the apron at Malaga airport on Monday. A video which has gone viral, released on the internet shows a man calmly walking along the wing and with his cabin baggage....
Apparently the Ryanair flight had left London an hour late and passengers were then further held on the landed plane for a some thirty minutes i.e. after landing in Malaga, without any explanation from the airline.
Local media suggests the Spanish police had delayed the disembarkation process and the passenger said to be an asthmatic, craved fresh air and popped the over wing emergency exit only pausing to retrieve his cabin baggage. The passenger was later coaxed back into the aircraft by th crew and later handed over to the police.
His brief excursion could turn out to be very expensive, fines in excess of £32,000 are possible together with a world wide flying ban, however everyone remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law....
Ryanair later said: “Malaga airport police immediately arrested the passenger in question and since this was a breach of Spanish safety and security regulations, it is being dealt with by the Spanish authorities.”
